Selena started her professional career in the age of eighteen in a band founded by the late Abraham Quintanilla. The band was composed of Selena along with her elder siblings Abraham junior who played base guitar and the sister Suzette who played the drums and Selena was the vocalist of the band. Selena Y Los Dino is the name for the band. Selena played with her siblings in venues like weddings, bars, fairs and various other locations. The band was very time consuming for Selena as well as her brothers and sisters, so they never had much of an early childhood, but they were encouraged to become committed musicians due to the determination by their father Abraham. Abraham Senior was part of the band Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos formed officially in 1981. It was the group's principal commercial venture, as well as the main source of family income.
